What is alloy steel
Steel added with one or more alloy elements, such as aluminum, cobalt, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, silicon, titanium, vanadium, or tungsten is referred to alloy steel. The purpose of which is to change the mechanical properties of steel.
The Chinsui hydraulic turbine retired after 73 years of operation
Located at Tongmen Village, Showlin Township, Hualien County, the device was of Run-of-the-river hydroelectricity unit.

Founded by Hualien Aluminum Co., Ltd. adopting Pleton cross-flow turbine made by Hitach Company in October 1937, the plant consisted of three units of 2500kw totaling capacity of 7000kw; rotation speed of which 720RPM; effective head approximate 406m; water usage of a single unit 0.84CMS, the power generated was for aluminum industries and city power consumption in Hualien.
The material of the hydroturbine unit was 13Cr4Ni alloy steel, wheel design of dismountable wheel hub and water bucket for easy maintenance. The device was renewed in 2010 to promote power generation efficiency.
